ok so im 16 5'9 140lbs. I've had puffy nipple for about 3 years now and im really sick of it.. Ive read in a few place where it said that after that many years it probably wont go down. I've been to the doctor and he just said wait it out, it's what i   expected to hear. Personally, i think the doctor didnt know much about gyne. I asked my parents if i can go ahead and try taking tamoxifen (cause i really want to do something about it rather than waiting any longer and it getting worse) but they dont want to take the risk since the doctor said its not FDA approved. I need help on how to convince them, or maybe someone can talk me out of taking it. Anywho please leave feedback thanks!

Gynecomastia is soo common that many people think of it as perfectly normal.  prehaps your Doctor is among them.

Gynecomastia runs in my family, and all my grandsons old enough to be in puberty have it.  We are simply glad that none of us has breasts large enough to need a Bra for comfort.  There are men who are less fortunate.

Your Doctor may have told you that they would go away in a year or so,  This is overly optimistic.  It would be honest to say that they will probably shrink before you reach your 20th birthday.

Whatever you still have at the age of 20 is most likely what is yours to keep.  The decision about surgery is most apropriate then rather than now.

Sorry, But it seems I only addressed part of the question.

With respect to dealing with your parents and / or the taking of hormonally active drugs:   Your best course of action is to request a referral to an Endocrinologist from your family Doctor.

This specialist will be able to best advise you and your parents.  This is what is called 'off label' usage for this drug.  Some Doctors are shy of using drugs 'off label.'  The specialist may be a bit more bold in his treatment of you.

Meanwhile, respect your Doctor's and your Parents concerns
