My recent surgery (questions)

Hello All,

Just had the gyne surgery this week for the second time.  First time was a few years ago (lipo and excision) and I felt I wasn't flat enough also my left was bigger than right.

Doctor agreed to do revision with no fee from him (still $2k for hospital and general).  I asked for symmetry first and then flatter.

Well, now that I look at the results I am really flat.  Probably flatter than I want to be.  And most concerning on my left side it is concave below my nipple as if trying to overcompensate for the original symmetry.

So my #1 concern right now is I don't want to be concave.  Do people out there feel that this could disappear with time?  Also, should I stop wearing the compression vest to have a better change of less concaveness?

It is easier to remove than to replace.  Depressions can either be regions of too little tissue or just swelling of surrounding tissues.  Some crater defects can look bad and actually have no good surgical solutions.  Check out the movies of the defects on that page.

How tissues evolve after surgery depends on the original problem, surgical technique, skill of the surgeon, how you heal, after care, scar care, compression and other factors best explored with your doctor or someone you see for a second opionion evaluation.

I have not needed general anesthesia for my male chest sculpture for many years.  For my patients needing skin alone nipple reduction, I offer local anesthesia alone option.  With tumescent techniques, I have evolved a better system under local with heavy sedation.  Without the sedation, there are just too many possible problems.

Some surgeons use general with tumescent techniques. Some use general alone.  I found that general anesthesia can leave patients with a higher chance of nausea and discomfort after surgery.

Each surgeon has his / her preferences about anesthesia.  I typically use local with heavy sedation.  That is not general anesthesia, but the patient is not awake.  We use medications injected into an IV for this sedation.  That is how we help keep our patients comfortable for most types of gynecomastia chest sculpture.  Sedation itself is an art.  I will use local anesthesia alone when performing actual nipple reduction surgery.
