Nipple Growth- Doctors??

I have seen a few surgeries that shorten the actual nipple. My question is what causes male nipple growth? Ive read that the nipple can grow from pulling on it , is that possible?

Continued traction on any human tissue can result in stretching and growth.  Orthopedic surgeons use this theory in the treatment of short extremities, which are made to lengthen by "distraction osteogenesis."  And I am sure most of the readers have seen elongated earlobes from certain African tribes.  The same is possible for nipples.  However, most of the time, I see enlarged nipples (not areolas) which have simply grown large naturally.

I frequently perform a nipple reduction at the same time as gynecomastia surgery to reduce the overall size of the breast.
