Hello doctor,
This is my first post in the forum
Its been 10 days since ive had my surgery which included gland excison
And lipo. My question is that, how long should i
Wear the compression garment for ? Because my doctor
Tells that i should wear them for about 3 to 6 months
Another query is when i visited my doctor 1 week post
Surgery for dressing, i had a look at my chest and
The nipple was flat and numb.. When do i get to
See it shrink and be normal?
Please reply

In most cases, compression is useful for 4 to 6 weeks, but it's likely that compression beyond that point has little impact on the final result.  Some men will wear compression beyond 6 weeks for comfort or for other personal reasons, but it's not necessary to improve the results. Your surgeon may have a rationale for using compression for so long, so you should ask why.

The appearance of the nipple will change over time, but I can't really tell you how long it will take for you to get feeling back or for it to look more normal.  In my practice, most patients look pretty good by the time I see them back 6 to 8 weeks after surgery.

Thank you so much doctor.
I shall ask my surgen about the compression garment when
I visit him this time to remove the dressing and also will post the pics
Soon after the dressing is removed.

I would give you the following information
1) I have my patients wear the vest I provide for four to six weeks in general.
2) I do not know anything about your case and would recommend you follow your surgeon's advice.Feel free to ask him any  questions you may have ,but you should not self treat yourself.
3) The nipple and areola should be flattened after surgery and have a loss of sensation. The sensation returns slowly over a period of months.
