Some surgeons prescribe this over the counter supplement to reduce bruises that come with surgery.

What do you doctors think?

I have used it in the past.I was not impressed by its ability to reduce bruising and in addition I noted a slight increase in bleeding.
I was given 25 kits for patients that were very nice . The kits had two different color bottles with pills of Arnica in them. One color was for the preoperative pills and the other color was for the postoperative pills and a little case to hold both bottles. As I mentioned I did not see a benefit.

I have patients who have used arnica, but it's not something that I have strong feelings about. I leave it up to them if they're interested.  I haven't noticed anything better or worse related to the use of the product.
