im a bit worried about the surgery and apparently i have a pre-op appointment today, who do i even meet with and what do they do? never had a surgery ebfore

It's just an assessment to make sure there's no issues on the day of surgery. Usually a nurse performs the pre-op and will take your past medical history again, check if you have any allergies, measure your BP etc. They make also take some bloods if you haven't had them done up till now.

oh lol, you'd think they of told me if they had to take bloods beforehand, damn

It depends on the surgeon/anaesthetist but those following good practice would generally insist on blood tests as there is a risk of blood loss during the procedure and if you're already anaemic or you have a clotting problem this could be potentially life threatening.

yeah i went and didn't have to get bloods, she said im the only one who didn't that day, weird

My doctor told me I didn't need blood tests because I was healthy and under 50 years old (I'm 38). But it all depends on the doctor.
