hello evryone
i have been reading this forum for a week now and its been a great help.
Had surgery a week ago in Poland (i am from uk) and am recovering well.

The surgeon said to wear the compression garment for 6-8 weeks after suregry...

Does this sound excessively cautious

Was thinking about 3 weeks and then wearing a micro fibre type compression vest but dont want to go against the surgeons advice and waste 1400 spent on surgery

any advice/help greatly appreciated.

well its now 6 weeks and ive managed to wear the vest non stop (i bought another one).
Does anyone think it would help if i continued to wear the vest at nightime (in bed) for another week or so, or would this not help as i wont be wearing it during the day.....

ps hammer - thats for the reply, it was the kick up the ass i needed to get on with it.
it actually got a lot easier after 3 weeks

Every surgeon's post-op care regimen is different -- it represents what works for that particular surgeon.
In my practice, I request that my patient's wear the post op compression garment for 4-6 weeks.  After 6 weeks, it has done its job and need not be worn.  Some of my patients have worn it longer and that is fine -- it can't harm and it might help.
