most of them are regular contrails, the normal water vapor created by burning jet fuel, which condenses in the cold high air, and they can be visible or not depending on normal air factors. there are people who claim there is deliberate high-altitude spraying of certain metallic compounds probably as part of an environmental manipulation, but i haven't read enough about it yet to have an opinion.
