Hi all,

I am from melbourne Australia and will probably be getting surgery for gynecomastia sometime in the next few years.

I am currently looking into private health insurance, and Im not sure if it is covered by private health insurance here.

Has anyone here had the operation in Australia and was it covered by their private health insurance?

And is the operation considered cosmetic surgery, as the health insurance plans Ive seen all say they don't cover that.

Thanks.

I only ever refer to male chest reduction as a CORRECTIVE and not COSMETIC procedure.  I compare it to children that have to wear a brace to CORRECT the structure of their teeth, even though it could be argued that the correction is kind of cosmetic.  So if you want to be in with a chance where you insurance is concerned, only refer to it as a corrective plastic procedure!
