Hey, I've been worried about having gyne since last summer, and this year I've come to the realization that I probably have it.

My nipples are puffy, and I'm pretty sure puffy nipples can't come from being over weight.. (I'm 5'11, 190 lbs) I'm in the process of losing weight and I have a few questions.

How would gland feel. Would you have to look hard for it or would it be there right when you pinch the nipple?

Can puffy nipples be caused by being over weight?

If you have gynecomastia from puberty would their be gland. (I'm only 16 and I got gyne right around a year ago this time).

Thanks, Sorry I don't have any pics, I'll try to get some up.

Since about 2/3 of all men have breast enlargement at some time in their lives, It is probably safe to say you are probably right.

Puffy nipples can be caused by obesity, It is in the fat cells where testosterone is aromatized to estrogen.

Generally, glandular tissue is fibrous and may feel like you have a dime sized disc of tough or rubbery material behind and attached to the nipple. Conversely, Fat is softer and more pliant. The problem is that even skilled surgeons can be fooled. Since there is no physical damabe due to Gynecomastia and the emotion impact is the same, It really matters little which you have. Usually, there is both fat and gland.

Gynecomastia is a condition that sort of sneaks up on you, You may have become aware of it a year ago, but it probably grew over a period of a couple of years.

Bring it up with your family Doctor, you might even request a referral to an Endocrinologist whe specializes in Reproductive Endocrinology.
