Well I'm 6'3" and 230 lbs, so obviously I'm overweight.  I joined my gym again yesterday in hopes that I can take off some of my fat but after spending several hours reading sites (mainly this one), I'm worried that if I take off my fat that my boobs will become more noticeable or that working my butt off will not return any results.

Here are some pics I just took.  Do any of you think my boobs resemble fat or gland or both?  What should I do?  I'm 18 and have the money for surgery, but is it worth doing while I'm still at my obvious high BF%?  I haven't spoken to my mom about this yet, but I'm hoping I can convince her.

Here are my pics:

Please give me any input.  I've been dealing with this problem for as long as I can remember and I'm so tired of having to hide my boobs with tight T-shirts under button-up shirts.

Yes, you have gynecomastia.

Your probably right that loosing weight will not help the psysical situation, but it would definitley be step in the right direction in the long run. I suggest  that you continue going to the gym, drop that extra 15 lbs or so, and find a good plastic sugeon in your area. With your case you can get get results from an operation.

   Good luck           -Brown

I intend to bring my concerns to my mom but I'm not sure how.  I don't want to be like "hey I was reading on the internet and found something that I think I have."  I want to sound convincing.

Do you think I could go to a doctor to confirm that I have gyne before I lose weight or would that just waste money?  Also, what kind of doctor should I visit to discuss gynecomastia?  I'm kind of lost...

regarding getting it over to your mom..

why not tell her you've been/are going to the docs for advice on training/dropping some weight and when you come back tell her he says no matter how much weight you lose your chest is going to stay the same roughly..

and that surgery can cure it.. it isn't going to go away.. I was 17 when I first thought "I'll just get stuck in at the gym and burn em off".. I'm 35 now and finally getting it sorted next month via surgery.

don't wait.. do it now.. I (as well as a good many others on this board) have spent years missing out on being "normal" .. take the step now rather than in 20 years ;)

If I could I'd go schedule an appointment today.  I'm just concerned if getting surgery at my weight would be almost a waste.

If I got excision and lipo, would my fat come back at my current weight?

My advice is always to take care of the fat with exercise, and the gland with surgery.  Never mix the two...but it's a personal choice I guess, don't let me tell you what to do with your body.

I feel you pain...my case was a lot like yours...nothing that i did ever really made a difference until i had surgery.

Schdule a consultation with a good plastic surgeon. I don't know where you live but I bet you could find out a good one. Ask around and find out who is doing the good face lifts etc. Then call and ask if they do gyno surgery. It is really common now.

The get the surgery. Do it now. Don't wait until you are 40 like I did. I really is not that big a deal. Do it now and you can have the summer you have put off all these years.

Be brave. I told my friends that I wanted lypo under my arms....that seemed less wierd than saying my breasts. ...they did not say anything. But I know they already knew. We just think we are hiding this grap!!!!

It's a bitch. I have often wondered why me with big breasts...but it could be worse.

Do it. You will be glad you did.

I live in the New Orleans area.  I haven't spoken to anyone yet about this besides my girlfriend, but I can hopefully discuss it with my mom tomorrow night.

I don't want to rush this but the thought of having a life without always being conscious about my breasts is so great that I want it to be done asap.  What's the typical procedure I need to go through in order to get this into motion?

I'm old enough to schedule my own consultation, but what sort of cost am I looking at for something like that?  And after the first one, can you schedule the op if the doctor agrees?  Does this stuff take a long time?

My mom has had cosmetic surgery a few times before so maybe I'll get lucky with using her PS (if that isn't weird enough :P).

Oh, and do you guys think getting the surgery right now would be ok or do I have to suffer a few more months while I lose some weight?  I know I can get excision / lipo, but I'd rather save money and only get excision, and bust my balls to burn the fat.  I find it really difficult to go work out if I know that I won't be getting the results I want without surgery.

Damn this, I can't even get any work done.  I've been thinking about my gyno all day.  I always thought it was just fat and that I'd be able to burn it off. D:

I also ordered the 997 Large from underworks.com today.  It should be here (if the shipping is on time) toward the end of this week, and if I like it I'll order one or two more to at least make me feel better about myself with my shirt on.  Hopefully I won't be stuck hiding my nasty boobs under tight shirts the rest of my life D:

Do it now...you could probably get it see the doc and have it scheduled within a month. Then the recovery is really quick. I could have been back to the office in two days if I had needed too.

I had mine in April of last year and was swimming within a month or so.

It will cost somewhere between $4000-$6000.

So you  talk about it with you girlfriend? Why not let her help you?

I had lypo only and still have some gland that I want out. So make sure you do it right. Go to someone who has expeireince in this.....ask how many they have done!

Now that you are thinking about the surgery, it almost becomes compulsive. You just want them off NOW. I understand.

Don't worry about your wieght now. Go get it done.

Yep, looks like a classic case.  You should probably hit the gym anyway before surgery so your chest won't be totally flat post surgery.  Just make sure is willing to excision as well as lipo, if necessary.

I found a doctor in my town who seems to have a pretty high reputation.  This is his website, let me know what you guys think of him: http://www.drmetzner.com

He has held many prestigeous positions and won many awards, as well as was featured on a reality TV show here in NO, as you can see on his site.

My girlfriend understands my problem, but thinks I shouldn't get my hopes up or be too rash.  She's been very supportive of me so far though because she knows how adversely they affect my life.  My man-boobs have never been a problem in my relationship with her, its just my overall image of myself.  I want them gone, now!

I am going to try and discuss it with my mom tonight and be as convincing and informative as possible.  She won't react too kindly to me wanting to get surgery, but I could probably work her down over time...but I want it done asap.  I'll let yall know how it goes.  I appreciate all of your information and concern.

The two pictures on his website look pretty good.  I'd see if he has some more before you commit to him.
