surgeons on the philippines who DO perform excision

it seems like the doctors here believe that lipo-only will work, which doctors do you think have the most experience in gynecomastia? because it seems like doctors here lack knowledge in gynecomastia

Here are my assessments after consulting several surgeons:

1) Dr Alfred Callanta - he insists that he has done excision and lipo for several of his gynecomastia patients. I think he is good but somewhat conservative in the sense that he would not remove 100% if he feels the outcome will not make the patient look better. If you are looking for 100% removal regardless of outcome then he might not be for you

2) Dr. Lasa - he does only pure liposuction. He brags that liposuction alone can help you with your gynecomastia. A little "mayabang" but that is just my opinion. Last time I consulted with him, excision is a no-no.

3) Dr. Hector De Leon - an experienced surgeon and is of the opinion that if warranted, he will remove the glands but liposuction is the primary option.

4) Dr. Flrencio Lucero - a very famous surgeon and does surgery for some of the local stars. He is one of the few surgeons that requires the patient to stay overnight in the hospital (Medical City I think) for the operation. Judging from my consult with him, he believes that operating my case will leave a big nasty scar. Liposuction primarily but I am just not sure if he has done excision before.

5) Drs. Peregrino Lorenzo and Edwin Magallona - these surgeons operate as a tag team. Some doctors call them batman and robin coz i thinkt they always work together. They suggested that my solution is only subscutaneous mastectomy. They suggested that I undergo the operation without sedation. Liposuction was not mentioned.

Who were the surgeons you consulted? what were their advice?

Good so far! My only concern right now is my nipple and areola area since the doc had to remove excess skin, not only fat and glands.

Hi Eagle,

You can reach Dr. Callanta thru clinica dermatologica at 7519370 or 7231114. Look for Juvie and she will set a consultation with Dr. Callanta for you. Or you can ask for the doc's mobile number. Doc conducts his consults in his clinic near abs-cbn in qc or in the aesthetic center in shangrila mall. Lipo and excision will cost you probably 70,000 depending on your case.

I don't think philhealth or any local medical insurance covers gynecomastia surgery. Just make your consultations with several doctors so you can wisely choose, not only in terms of costs but what the surgeon can do for you. Theoretically a general surgeon can operate on you. But it is highly advisable to go to a plastic/reconstructive surgeon for this.

Yap i've heard of him but I didn't get to consult him. I think St. Luke's has a sub-specialty team on plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

 i developed gynecomastia when i was 16 years old i am now 22 years old. with years of research i found out na surgery lang ang katapat ng case ko. i tried working out pero di nawawala ang fat. it is really an embarassment for me. i tried consulting different doctors and this one doctor from munich, germany said what i need is gland removal and liposuction contouring which costs 3,500 EUROS! about 220,000 PESOS! . i have read on some threads that doctors in manila only do liposuction at hindi sila trained or is not practicing gland removal. i consulted with doctor manny calayan and have an apointment with him 1st week of june. i have read some threads na magaling ang mga surgeons sa india pero wala akong tiwala. does anyone know kung sino talaga ang doctor na may knowledge dito sa pilipinas?
