Our stories are very similar. I too am 5'6", lost a lot of weight (113 pounds) to get to 163 and have been running marathons (and even a 31 mile Ultramarathon) ever since. Like you, I hoped that losing the weight would take care of the "problem" but unfortunately it didn't and ~2.5 weeks ago I finally had the surgery. Personally it always bothered and bummed me out that I never got to wear any of the tech shirts you get at marathons. Matter of fact, just today I put on my '09 Boston Marathon shirt for the very first time! Great feeling as it was my first marathon.  ;D

You have done an excellent job getting your body in shape and as long as you are happy with your chest now, that is all that matters. In my case I not only had fat in my chest but also had "glandular tissue" the size of a golf ball in each side that would never go away regardless of how much I worked out...and hoped.

BTW, what marathons have you done and did you ever run a 50 mile Ultra?

congrats fatboyslim, to qualify for Boston takes some extreme effort and I commend you for it :) I have not run any ultras yet but I did run a 40 mile on my own over the summer, it took me over 8 1/2 hours, now I am currently on a 100 mile build up schedule :) and I am not satisfied with my chest yet but I have no doubt the results I want will be achieved without surgery sooner than later :) stay safe bro and keep up that elite level running

Thanks for the compliment but I cannot accept it until I actually do it. I was only able to run Boston as a charity runner - I ran for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a disease that my niece Julia suffers from, both years (2009 and 2010). That said, I have made a promise to myself that the next time I run it, I will qualify. My PR is 4:08 for a regular marathon which isn't that bad for someone who hadn't run 1/4 mile in over 30 years and is 49!

Impressive on the 40 mile run! :o I'm running a race just north of Boston in July called "24 Hours Around The Lake" where you run a 3.2 mile loop around a lake for 12 or 24 hours. I'm hoping to go at least 50 miles in 12 hours (7PM to 7 AM). Come on up!  ;D

Thank you thetodd :) I have a little more to go but I will get to my goal, the only stretch marks I have is from my heavy weightlifting years but no stretch marks as a result of losing chest fat, I will keep you all posted on my continued progress :)
