Terrible flu after surgery.....

I had my surgery on Dec. 12th

About 2 weeks afterwards I can down with some brutal flu.  Fever, sweating, zero appetite, aches and pains.  Usually when I get the flu I get over it pretty quickly. This time round has been a different story.  My fever lasted for about a week and now its turned into a really bad cough and sore throat.  Its getting better very slowly but still giving me issues now almost 2 weeks later.  I've been to see the doctor and  all they say is that its viral and there's nothing they can really do for me.

Could the reason its lingering this long possibly be because my body is trying to heal too much at one time (chest&flu)

This is my second gyne surgery and the healing process is taking much longer than my first one did even though I had less done this time round.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience after a surgery?  It sure hasn't made my recovery all that fun!
