Most everyone has read the Posts of Hypo.

Some seem to be of the opinion that he is simply highly adept at doing an internet search etc. and is otherwise talking over his own head.  Not True.

He is conversing with the best Endocrinologists on both sides of the Atlantic.  Over the next few days, he will be meeting with one of the foremost Endocrinologists in London.

He is also working on the establishment of a charity for research into treatment of Hypogonadism.

This guy is the real thing, while not a MD, his information is probably more up to date than next months Medical Journal.  Because of his contacts, he is often aware of things even before they are published.

This is not to say that everyone should take everything he says literally,  But it should all be taken seriously.
The man's mind is absolutely Encyclopedic.

I definitely have a lot of faith in hypo.  He had sent me a pretty extensive list a few weeks ago detailing which tests I should have and I spoke with somebody who owns a blood lab screening business and thought that hypo was a doctor when I showed him hypo's PM (I printed it out and gave it to him).

I'm actually about to head over to the lab this morning to get my blood drawn.  Hopefully he'll be back from London when I get my results in, or will at least continue to check the boards while he's there.

how did get to be so knowledgable? did he have a problem that caused him to do a lot of research?

he's a smart guy..he started that thread bragging about how much he knew (with all the questions and stuff)..i didn't like that, came across as co.cky, but he definitely is very knowledgable, that's very clear..

The guy must have no life if he loves Endo's so much. He is not a Doctor-not even close

He can not understand that one or two studies does not make something a medical fact.

He tends to talk over poeples heads which makes me believe that he truly does not understand what he is posting about.

Intellegent people have the ability to effectively communicate comlicated medical studies to the lay person using common every day terminology. Hypo does not do that.

I also think he loves to debate just for the sake of debating.

I have really nothing to offer anyone on this board but I find it a very valuable resource. I just hate seeing members like Hypo use their limited lack of knowledge and shove it down peoples throats. Some people do not have the resources to see all the views of the rest of the medical community.

Suffice it to say that for him,Gynecomastia was not a problem in itself but merely a symptom of a much larger problem.

His study and resulting expertise grew out of what was, for Him, a life threatening issue.  He will be dealing with this issue for the rest of his life.

Here I thought Hypo was another thyroid patient, not a sufferer of hypogonadism. I only know of a couple of other guys with that issue.

In my case, I have no idea why I developed gyne. It was thought that it was because of thyrotoxicosis, but no or meds, again no, so still no idea.

I wish Hypo luck. The constant research is a pain. I tend to watch a particular group of endos, starting with Dr. Leslie De Groot, who wrote the teaching text for care givers.

....and who is this pumpseeker twit? What's his problem? Why does he hate Hypo so much?

the world is a complex place, and human beings have way more than one dimension.

hypo has a great deal of useful information, and i give him props for that.  i also think he has other peoples' best interests genuinely at heart, and i personally like the guy.  now that doesn't mean i haven't vehement disagreements  with the guy more than once (as he has with me), and yes he's a little sensitive at times and can get a little obsessive with a flame exchange.  so do we all, even if he does it somewhat more than normal.  usually the chief exciter of the debate is hormones.  i try to stay away from that one like i try to steer clear of the subject of pot ;)

i personally think it's useful for everybody, me included, to try to have as thick a skin as possible, and not need to react obsessively to every perceived offense.  i think most of us know we'd do any of our gyne-suffering brethren a good turn in a pinch anytime, anywhere.

* a man is more than a body will ever tell
* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?
