Hello I'm trying to figure out how I developed Gynecomastia.

When I was 10 or 11, I developed OCD and got on some antidepressant drugs for a year.  I've read online that antidepressant drugs can cause Gynecomastia.

I developed Gynecomastia when I hit puberty when I was 12 or 13.  I am 22 years old now, and my Gynecomastia still exists.  My condition is not severe, just puffy nipples.  With a shirt on, I don't worry about my appearance.  Without a shirt on, and I do worry a bit.

I have two questions:
1) Is the cause of my Gynecomastia due to the drugs or due to puberty?

2) If it is caused by the drugs, should I watch out for breast cancer?  I've read that there is no link between Gynecomastia and breast cancer, but there may be a link betwen drug-induced Gynecomastia and breast cancer.

The cause could be either of the two things you mentioned, I suspect that puberty is most likely. It does not really matter much which it is.

The rarity of Breast cancer in men is such that I doubt that it is something you need to worry about.

The small cost of a visit to your Dr. should give you some peace of mind.
