Hello every one,

I already have Gynecomastia from the age of Puberty and now I am 29 yo.I have Maternal side hereditery male pattern Baldness..My skin doctor has given my Minoxidil 2% for topical and Finasteride and some vitamin tablest for 3 months.

My doubt is whether my gyno will increase further?? I already have big moobs along with  extra weight Body weight.

Can anyobne tell me will it increase the size further?? and if it does and when I stop taking it will it again come back to its original size?

Yes it can, but its a gamble and I'm not sure anyone knows the odds.

As to whether the Gynecomastia will shrink if the drug is withdrawn, Perhaps. This too is a bit of a gamble.

Most men who use low dosages of finasteride to prevent balding have no problems. Some, obviously, wind up here wondering what to do about the side effects of the drug. A very small number actually wind up with hypogonadism that is not reversable.

While the number of men who have adverse side effects from propecia is small, the results can be life changing in scope.

Think of a bald head as a solar panel for a sex machine. MPB is something only a stud gets. Women and children may lose some hair, but not in the same way. You need Testosterone to get Male Pattern Baldness. Lots of chicks are wise to this so a balding head on an obviously young and verile man is a turn on to them.

hi
first of all i want to tell u about finasteride, finasteride is a DHT killer. In male pattern baldness DHt is main culprit. but on the other side Dht is very important to males as it provide the sexual characterstic (erections, deep voice, body hair ,facial hair in men).Finasteride directly attacks on the Dht which causing male pattern baldness (MPB).Taking finasteride can give side effects in some men such as :
Impotence,
Weak erections,
Complete shut down of sexual feeling,
no morning eretion
Gynecomastia.
But these may be temporary as after stoping the finasteride u may get or recover from these side effects.
Yes finasteride can worsen your gyno. as it kills dht.
Dht protects us from estrogen related side effects.
I am also sufering from gyno at the age of 13 now i am 23 and also suffering from androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness from age of 20.
My skin speclist prescribed me 5% minoxidil,1mg finasteride and boitin.
I started taking finasteride after taking 21st dose i realize that i have no sexual feeling and erection on watching porn movie. then i suddenly stopped taking finasteride after 1 months evry thing back to normal thank god.
When i went endcrinologist for the treatment of gynecomastia and telling him that i am taking finasteride for mpb he said stop the finasteride if u want to control the gyno and he warn me about the finasteride taht its a sex killer. but i didn't listen to him and continue to take finasteride.
Instead of using 2% minoxidil use 5%, which is more effective and recommeded for men.
I sugest you to talk about the side effects of finasteride to doctor.

Finasteride (Propecia) works in about 9 out of 10 men to put an absolute stop to their hair loss -- it is very good in that respect.

It can also produce gynecomastia as a side effect in some patients -- not all.  Merck does not provide a percentage of those men who will develop gynecomastia.  In fact, they call it "swelling of the breasts" -- which is not exactly true. Swelling indicates a temporary condition whereas true gyne is represented by actual breast tissue -- and is not temporary.

I have spoken to the Merck people about incidence of gynecomastia recurrence if a post-op gyne patient takes Propecia for his hair loss:  there are no studies on this and the incidence is unknown.

In sum, it's a tough decision between going bald or possibly growing larger breasts.

On a personal note, I have gynecomastia and have taken Propecia.  It absolutely stopped my hair loss, my gyne never increased in size and my sex life has never been better.  Go figure!

I had taken propecia (finasterid) for about a year. Neither my gyne improved nor I had a bad erection. But the reason I quit taking finasterid was not those side effects. It stops hair loss as long as you keep using it. Then when you stop, you get back to the starting point in a month or two (even if you have been using it for many years). So if you are not planning to take finasterid all of your life, quit today.

Many years ago, a barber told me that if I really wanted to save my hair he would recommend a shoe box.

good for you for inquiring, that would have been interesting to listen to.  of course a corporation like that seems unlikely to give you a straight answer, since it's all downside, they care chiefly about covering their butts so nobody sues them if they fall into the gyne percentage, so i doubt we'll see much.  it's amazing how many studies, even the journal reviewed kind, are driven by the simple unreliable profit motive.
* a man is more than a body will ever tell
* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?
