Can an ultrasound be used to detect gynecomastia (i.e. the gel and weird machine?)

Can an ultrasound be used to detect gynecomastia (i.e. the gel and weird machine?)

Some doctors order ultrasounds as part of their Gynecomastia Testing. Ultrasounds are best at detecting fluid air interfaces or major sound reflective differences seen in breast cysts. They are not good at detecting the difference between fat vs. gland vs connective tissue and are a wasted expense in my opinion unless on Male Mammogram a Radiologist finds something that needs clarification.

Hope this helps,
