So are you going to have the same results if you wear the vest 2 weeks compared to 4-6? Will not wearing it as long just make it longer to heal?

It's a difference of opinion.  If the majority of the swelling occurs in the first 2 weeks, then going without it after two weeks is probably not too big a deal.

A bit of an update:

I'm now over a week - 8 days - post op.   Things are going pretty well.  I was nervous to touch by chest, wash, etc., but I'm easing into it.

The vest is really a pain in the rear, but I'm dealing with it.  I'm wearing my secondary vest during the day, but switching it up after the office and wearing the original vest they sent me home from the hospital with.   It accomplishes the same thing, but a different fit.   It sounds odd, but it really helps.   Just feels different.

Other than the vest, not much to report.  Well, other than the fact that my gut now looks much bigger now that the moobs are gone - LOL.    Funny though, now that I feel good about my chest, I feel pretty driven to work on other things.

I have the same feeling...now that my chest is flat...my belly certainly feels much bigger than before.  For now all I can do is eat healthier and in a few weeks hopefully it'll motivate me to work out.

@Alpha - exactly what I'm doing.  But hey, I'm much more driven now, than before.   Good luck.

Took some 2-week post op shots, and included my pre-ops as well for comparison.   My one-week pic is on my original post.  I'm pretty happy with my results at this point.

All in all, everything is going really well.

Great result!  That appearance of the left nipple/areola skin is most likely from the trauma of the liposuction.  The skin will probably crust up a little, and you'll see some flaking away of some dead skin cells, but it should heal just fine.  You should be pretty happy.

Thanks Dr. Pope...and I appreciate all your feedback.  Since I'm in WA and my PS is in California, it's great to get additional feedback and comments.

I was wondering about my left nipple, as it's much worse than my right.   My right actually looks perfect and I have no worries.  Though with my left, I've been concerned about the final result once everything is healed.

As I said above, it just looks a little traumatized and should heal fine.

excellent results so far.
IMO, the left nipple has a larger scar which should heal pretty soon. give it some time.

thanks for the pic update

Thanks - hard to believe it's the same chest.  I'm still in shock when I look in the mirror at times.

Well, it's now 3-weeks post op.....3 more weeks and I can quit wearing the vest and get back on a workout routine.   I seriously can't wait.    In regard to feedback regarding work and the vest, it can be easily hidden under any kind of shirt.  No worries what so ever.

My right nipple is almost completely healed, but my left nipple still has healing to go.   In regard to pain and discomfort, I've had an odd feeling here and there, but I'm assuming that's the healing process.  I did put the car seats into my wife's car this weekend, and I must have done something because my chest felt a bit weird for the remainder of the day.  It wasn't anything too painful, but just irritating.  It just gave me a reason to hang out on the recliner and watch football all day.  :)

I did notice some lumps under my arm pits last night, and I'm assuming it's probably scar tissue forming.  I'm going to email Delgado just to confirm.

All in all, everything is going as planned.

Thanks.

I am flying for Australia to Europe the 9th day after the surgery to see my family for Christmas. I am not sure how I am going to cope with the vest, flying more than 20 hours in total plus airport transfers and endless waits between flights.

But I guess now I have to pray and hope that the surgery will go well and that it will accomplish the results I want. I will think about the vest and the flights later. I was just wondering, if things become unbearable, can you easily take that thing off (in an airplane toilet) and put it back on once you land? Also, taking it off too early may only prolong the healing process, but not actually influence the results, is that so?

Anyone who has gone through the surgery, what's your experience with the vest? How important have you found it to be?

I tell patients 2 weeks day and night with the compression vest, then change to a tight shirt after that, like UnderArmour.  It's tough to wear those vests longer than a couple of weeks.  I've had this surgery myself, and all I could take was two weeks.  At the 2 week mark I was actually on a long airline flight and took the vest off during the flight.  It was driving me nuts.
