Hey all, had my surgery on Dec. 1st.

The right side looks great, a little scar tissue but it doesn't affect the area at all. The left side however has some scar tissue which is cause the nipple to puff out some. Right after the surgery it looked great but then about 2-3 weeks in the scar tissue formed and then this issue arrived. The scar tissue is right where the incision was/is. I had the surgery when I was on christmas break for college so I can't go and see my surgeon now.

My question is: Is there a good chance that the scar tissue will stay or will it most likely go away? I'm a little worried since beach season is going to be coming up in a couple months. What are the chances that the scar tissue will subside (even a little) by then?

It is not unusual for there to be some thickening directly underneath the peri-areolar incision/scar.  This is normal and is called a healing ridge.  It should settle down -- but it may take a number of months. If, by 5-6 months post surgery, it has not settled down, then you may want to speak to your surgeon about a possible Kenalog (steroid) injection.

Why it is more on one side than the other is a question you can pose to Mother Nature -- I sure don't know the answer. (I could propose a few ideas -- but nothing conclusive).
