Hey guys I've been perusing this site for some time now and I decided that I may as well post seeing as I am getting mixed responses between reading this site and others.

For background, I am 19 years old, 5'11" and 145lbs, muscular athletic build with a body fat of around 9-11%. I work out 3-5 times a week (lifting and cardio) and consider myself in good shape. I have had puffy-ish nipples on and off for some time it seems like, but in the past 4-5 months I have developed what appears to be gyno in my right breast. I have relatively no fat on my chest. To explain further, I have a definite hard lump (presumably the gland) under the nipple and it is sometimes sensitive. I will add pictures when I can. It is only on my right side. Is this a cause for concern? I've read that it can occur asymmetrically, however it seems most cases aren't.

I understand that my case is minor in comparison to many of you (I have great sympathy for each of you), however, this is still bugging me. I often find myself trying to make my nipple erect to make it more similar in size to my left nipple.

Now that my background is explained, on to my question.

Will this swelling of the gland go down after time? On other sites, I find people saying just to wait it out; it will usually go away after 8months-2yrs they say... However, I am confused because everyone on here is consistently speaking of surgery. So will it go away after a while if it is a mild case or not?

Thanks for reading,

shoey

Welcome to gynecomastia.org!!

Yes, you do have a puffy nipple on the right.

True one sided gyne is rare -- but possible.  Oftentimes, there is a more subtle amount of gyne on the left side as well.  A gyne specialist should be able to help you with this after an examination.

If you have had this condition for two years or more, then it is unlikely to disappear spontaneously.  However, if you are not sure, then there is certainly no harm in watching and waiting -- you will know soon enough if it is going to disappear.  My gut feeling:  it won't disappear.

You are in excellent shape -- no need to lose weight -- it will not affect your condition.

Keep us informed as to your progress.  In the meantime, you can improve your contours by wearing body compression garments.

Thank you for your reply.

For what reason do you believe that it will not go away? Does puffy nipple usually not?

Once again, thank you, and other replies are also welcome!

My guess is based on years of experience -- but I do not want to remove your hope.  Give it time -- lots of time if need be -- to determine whether it will disappear or not.
