Endocrinologist choosing

I asked a couple plastic surgeons offices for a referral to a endo, I chose one and made an appointment.
After reading more about him- I realized he's 63 yrs old.

I realize a 63 yr old isn't that old, and I'm sure he's plenty qualified- but would I benefit from someone who didn't graduate med school in the late 70's?

I mean, there have been a lot of medical advancements since then- are doctors required to continue education to remain board certified? How does this work?

Most of the drugs in common use today did not exist in their present form 15 years ago. A Doctor must be a lifelong student to keep up with his profession.

If a Doctor is still in practice you can be fairly certain he is up to date regardless of his age.

Thanks. I think I've been over-doing everything relating to this.
I am freaked out that I may pick the wrong doctors who may not choose the right route for me.
