Good news jdb. As for surgery, your doctor was correct in warning you, but there are far more serious complications than loosing your nipple. Such as serious scaring, deforming your chest, loosing all feeling, dieing as a result of the anesthetic or from the complications of the surgery, surgeons are not above making fatal mistakes which you will pay dearly for. Plus the surgery might not solve the perceived issue with your breasts.

As you have been given a clean bill of health consider your options carefully at 60 surgery is a very serious decision.  

I agree Tigerpaws, I have used the same argument myself.  I was only yesterday discussing this with my wife, I asked her if she would voluntarily join a group of people having surgery where some (an admittedly small number) would be disfigured and one or two may even die when you were not that fussed about having the surgery in the first place.  If you don't have it done, it won't go wrong!

jdb. You have the right attitude, if and that is a big if a mammogram (I have had 2 so far) showed something suspicious I would seek out 2 possibly 3 opinions from vastly different medical specialists with differing points of view on the possibilities of the spot in question. Then and only then would I allow a minimally invasive biopsy. If that biopsy came out positive for cancer and after examining all of the available options would I consider a lumpectomy, my last choice would be a mastectomy.
