So, I finally booked the surgery today and paid the deposit.... I was feeling nervous right up until I made the phone call. I had to remind myself of all the distress these moobs have caused me over the years - the crossed arms at the beach, not being able to wear fitted t-shirts, wearing a vest under my shirt to hide them, the gyne hunch, the teasing from my mates, shagging birds with my top on... the list goes on.

However, having now booked it in, I feel as sense of relief. I now just want to get it over and done with and move on with my life. I'm booked in for late April, as I wanted to make sure I could enjoy the Easter holidays with my son. Thanks to all the guys on here for the support and guidance over the years (I've been on here for nearly 7 years now!!). Diaries/pictures have helped me make the decision and manage my expectations.

Congratulations Breastman this is probably the hardest step but one you have now taken.  I have my consultation with Karidis tomorrow and already dreading it but i know once i make that payment I will have something to focus on.  I also keep reminding myself the countless times when these moobs have prevented me from doing even the basics i.e wear a t-shirt, go swimming etc.

Good to hear that you're thinking of going ahead. if you do, you won't regret it!! I went myself last year, haven't posted for ages, but I have a thread of my story. And btw, forget your PT, he is an idiot... Sorry, he might be a nice guy or whatever, but his background in medical science is non-existent, and half of these guys are mixing what they barely know with "bro-science". That gland tissue may be skewing your BF measurement more than you think, hard to predict how much of it is actually fat rather than gland.
Anyway, keep us posted on whether your proceed with this.

Guys, I thought I'd put up some pre-op photos (if this works....I've spent 45 mins trying to get this to work).

These probably understate how bad it actually is as it not a hot day. On hot days, the skin relaxes and the nipples get bigger (anyone else experience this?). The one of me in the vest was taken 5 years ago on my honeymoon - I've used this one to highlight how bad it can look even with clothes on. I cringe every time I look at it....

Breastman, you are going to love the end result matey. In your white vest you have a perky pair of bangers that could easily be mistaken for a young teenage girl (no offence meant at all by the way!!), I bet you can't wait to have a flat chest

lol....I knew this was a bad photo, so I purposely uploaded it...your comments actually remind me of a time I went swimming with my mates when I was about 20 and when I ripped my top off one of mates said 'you remind me of 14 year old girl!' What a c**t...

I'm around 5 weeks away now, and some days I really want to get it done and other days I start stressing out, thinking I am being too superficial and need to man up and accept my body for what it is. Taking photos has helped me feel somewhat vindicated with my decision to go-ahead with surgery as photos don't lie...

Glad to hear your booked in, didn't mean to be dismissive about training but honestly there is no point in putting it off.

Everyone has jitters about surgery

"am i wasting my money?"
"am i being vain?"
"can i lose it with exercise?"

And the answer to all of the above is no, the feeling you will get the day after the surgery will make it worthwhile.

@Breastman regarding the summer day and big puffy nips, that's one of the biggest issues for me and my gyne. I don't think my gyne is too bad in terms of breast tissue but the pokey nips make it difficult to wear thin tops without looking like I've got little titties.

Goodluck with your surgery man, I'll probably be following behind a couple of months later

p.s. out of interest, when did you book and what is the waiting time like? I was kind of hoping I could book within the month but that doesn't sound to promising.

thetodd,

I think I really knew that training was a lost cause, it just took a long time to really accept it. I also had to convince my wife (who is 100% on board now). I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with jitters....

rasputin - If you read through this thread, I had my consultation in mid Jan, then made my mind up to go ahead around the middle of Feb. I was offered a late March, or late April and I choose late April as I had some family commitments over Easter and I didn't want my recovery to interfere with....so in short , you're probably looking at a 5/6 week waiting period.

Less than 48 hours away now... surprisingly I'm not bricking it as much as thought I would be, as I've been so busy trying to wrap things up with work (i'm taking two weeks off).  I have been having some weird dreams though....

Thanks to everyone for their support.

Thanks Rasputin, Just out of surgery recovering in my room, still groggy from the GA. waiting for lunch. I'll write up a proper update, probably tomorrow. Hopefully feeling well enough to watch the Champions league tonight. Speaking of football, saw Benoit Assou-Ekotto when I was waiting in the hospital reception area....

I was thinking of you this morning mate when I was getting myself out the shower and heading into London...thinking how nice my journey would be there and back and how manic and tense yours would have been lol

Keen to hear how you got on and your feelings about the anaesthetic as I know you were tussling with it quite a bit a few weeks ago.

"Welcome to the other side"  ;D
