cough & cold

I am having cough & cold .. esr seems to be above normal level (49mm/hr).. is it advisable to  undergo surgery with cough & cold?

Surgeons often recommend a snug compression garment after surgery, which will further diminish your breathing.

Would definitely check with your own surgeon as regards your upcoming surgery.  If you have only a cold and the surgery is more than a week away, you may be better in time for your surgery.  But in any case, check with your surgeon.

If you have a upper airway issue then often the anesthesiologist will proceed.If it goes to the lungs and you develop a cough or a productive cough with or without a fever, then my anesthesiologist will wait for 2 weeks.  You can develop a reactive airway and broncho-spasm which can become a problem.

My xray report says
"Bilateral lung fields show prominent broncho vascular markings - suggestive of bronchitis"

does this seem to indicate lung infection?

would u suggest me to wait for atlest 2 weeks with this condition?

With elective surgery, your best bet is to have the procedure done when you're healthy.  If you've had an x-ray, I would presume that your surgeon is aware of the results and can pass them on to the anesthesia staff, so that they can help you make this decision.  It's not really something that we can advise you on without the total picture, including a physical examination.

I basically agree with Dr. Delgado.it depends on the type of infection. To simplify if the lungs are OK its fine to proceed. If you have a more significant problem its no big deal to put off the surgery.
