Hey Guys,
I travelled to India for the first time to have my surgery and this is an account of my experience.

I had my surgery 23/08/2012 with Dr. JB Ratti from Vital Clinic in Delhi. I read a review on this website about him which ended in people being suspicious because of how the reviewer praised him.

My requirements for my surgeon were that he must be confident, experienced and assertive. I also wanted a good price. I watched a few youtube videos of Vital Clinic and Dr Ratti and thought that he fits these requirements and seems to be an expert in his field. I thought that even if he wasn’t an expert then at least I’ve seen him perform one surgery on youtube.

Review

Tumescent technique under local anaesthetic without sedation

Price: Just over US$1000

Time: 2 hours

Fat removed: Negligible (as stated in the post report)

The staff were very pleasant and helpful.  The staff handed me the documents disclosing all the risks of surgery, which I had to sign. While reading it, Dr Ratti arrived and I was escorted into his office. After  greeting I had mentioned that I was busy reading about surgery risks and he said that the risks are standard and pushed a pen my way wanting me to sign it without reading it further. I had read about him being abrupt with another guy who walked out due to this, so expected that I may encounter this too. I had already decided to trust him with my surgery and so did as he said. I think he has likely had patients who panicked after reading it and wanted to avoid such a situation.  Maybe asking for an e-mail copy of the documents to be signed beforehand would help.  I do believe that Dr Ratti has a genuine concern in assisting us. He may not always come across as a sociable, friendly person but he is a professional, who seems to focus almost exclusively on getting the job done right. I hope my results reflect my thoughts.

The clinic premises does look like a house converted into a clinic as I have read either here or after researching on google. The clinic is far from fancy but it was neat, clean and looked well organised.  I was taken to a room with a bed and restroom where I could keep my belongings and relax.

Before Surgery

I was given what I think was a calming sort of tablet and within 10 minutes I was escorted to the surgery room. I was well aware of my surroundings during the entire process. I lay down while they covered my face with a sort of cloth with a breathing hole.

During Surgery

My hands were out to my sides and were tied but I did have some movement of my wrists and arms to shift myself around every now and then. I could have probably slid my hands out of the loops if I wanted so they weren’t actually tied down. Dr Ratti did expect me to remain as still as possible (obviously) and was firm in expressing this while doing my surgery.

I could picture what he was doing during surgery as I could hear and feel the pulling, stretching and so on. I should mention now that there really was no pain throughout the process and when I thought he was cutting out the glands, I thought to myself,” just rip that stuff out.”  When it got a little uncomfortable being in that position for so long I thought about being G free when it’s over. Two hours later, I was being wrapped up and told to go to my room and Dr Ratti said he’ll soon show me the glands.

After Surgery

I went to my room and instead of lying down I walked up and down, looking in the mirror. Not sore and not tired. I was shocked and happy that the whole process was complete without pain. I could have probably driven myself home right then.

Dr Ratti then called me to show me my glands. 20g on each side was removed. He told me that there was almost no fat to remove.  In the container where the fat usually is, was just the tumescent fluid that drained out of me. I asked him how it went in his opinion and he said, “Excellent.”  He then explained that I should come back in 2 days to remove the dressing.

The next day(yesterday)I went to the mall and explored Delhi a bit. I took it slow, I didn’t feel pain but could feel some swelling.

Today I went to remove the dressing. Dr Ratti’s response was, ”perfect” when the dressing was removed. They removed 2 small drainage tubes which were for the tumescent fluid as there was no blood to drain under this tumescent technique. At this early stage I am happy with the results. Let me know your thoughts. If someone could tell me how to upload pics greater than 128kb, I will do so.

I will be happy to assist anyone considering this route, with information. Please post your questions here and copy and paste it to my personal messages so that I see it when I log on. I hope to help provide you guys with info. about my experience for a long time so will aim to check in once a week after the initial round of questions.

So...it's been 1 week since surgery. Just took a walk and examined myself after a shower. After surgery I could lift my arms above my head but very slowly. Now I can lift more easily but with a slight burning sensation on my nipples. Overall I'm happy with the progress and think that I will be able to do as I please after 6 weeks as the doctor mentioned.

I had one incision around the bottom of my nipple and one at the lower part of my chest (to the side, towards my armpits) There is a crust like formation around the nipple incision. Dr Ratti said to just leave it as it's part of the healing process. There is very little swelling and although I'm aware of my chest being a little sensitive all the time, it is easily bearable to carry out day to day activities.

Ordered compression vests from gc2compression because the 2 they gave me has to be hand washed and is a zipper that is easily visible through a t-shirt. I just realized that I can zip it over a light t-shirt for bed so that it lasts a bit longer until the next wash.

It's been 2 weeks since surgery. Swelling has gone down a lot, I can raise my arms above my head easily. I discovered inner scar tissue yesterday. My left nipple is slightly puffy so I felt below and around the nipple and felt hard tissue which I think is causing the puffiness. The right side has a lot less scar tissue and is flat. I can see my chest and abs slowly becoming more shapely. I am losing a little weight. I've been trying to stick to eating maintenance calories. I have also been more active this week, walking faster as well. I also planned a few social activities for the near future. Will add more pics to, user photos, soon.

I was feeling a little anxiety (because of my internal scars) and then found this post by Dr. Elliot Jacobs that helped calm my nerves and so I thought I would share it with you.

"Healing after gyne surgery can take up to six months on average -- less in some very young and healthy guys and longer in others (I have seen healing up to a year or more).

Healing is more than the absence of a bruise or minimal/absent swelling.  Healing continues under the skin and it is dictated by Mother Nature.  Neither the patient nor the surgeon have much influence over the natural healing processes.  Sometimes everything heals smoothly and the result is a fantastic looking chest with smooth contours, flat areolas and minimal scars.  Other times, there may be a buildup of scar tissue, or the scars may be prominent or there may be prolonged firmness or decreased sensation. There may also be minor twinges, tweaks, pulls, etc -- which come and go until they gradually fade away -- permanently. All of these tend to settle down over time -- but one must be patient.

I usually tell my patients that they can return to full activity at about one month after surgery -- but that there is continued, slow healing under the skin.  It will take many months for everything to soften, for the skin to move naturally over the underlying muscle, for the scars to become virtually un-noticeable and for full sensation to return to the skin and nipples.  This process is very very slow -- it just kind of sneaks up on you until one day you can touch your chest, look at it and say that it looks and feels totally natural and as if no surgery had ever been performed.  THAT is full healing.

Dr Jacobs"

Three weeks have past today and although time is flying I can't wait for the sixth week to get back in the gym. Contacted Dr Ratti in regard to the stitches, slightly puffy nipples and internal scars. He assured me that it's all normal during recovery and that the stitches will take about 6 weeks to fall off.

This week I ate too much. My pants are slightly tighter and I'm feeling heavier. I'm still not dieting or missing meals though. Unfortunately, I didn't walk much this week as well. Just been sleeping a lot. I drank lots of alcohol over the weekend. That hasn't helped much accept for killing some time.

On a better note, my gc2 compression vests arrived this week. They are very simple and don't look as impressive as the Nike's and Under Armour stuff I've seen on websites. Still they are good enough and a bit cheaper. Much better than the other vests that were visible through a shirt.

I was more excited about removing my G before surgery than I am now but when I think about all the things that I will most likely do in the near future I get excited. On my list so far are snorkeling, sauna and wearing a clingy thin t-shirt that I have yet to purchase.

Four weeks have past.I have been walking and jogging  a little but I'm afraid of running or over exercising at the moment(internal scars). The internal scars may have gone down a little. It is more prominent on the left hand side. There are indentations where the incisions were made and they are quite deep. Stitches are still visible. Eating a lot and gaining weight. Can't wait to get in the gym. My 4 weeks pics have been added under user photos.

Okay gentlemen. It's been six weeks. I haven't taken any pics the last 2 weeks. I guess it's because I'm feeling a little down because I'm not training. On the plus side I visited a specific shopping mall yesterday which I haven't been to since G surgery. I told myself I was gonna buy a shirt or 2 from there after surgery, when I last visited. I remembered how I felt the last time I was there and it was a good feeling to not feel uncomfortable after 20 years.

Anyone who wants surgery but can't afford it yet, I encourage you to train and watch your diet. Find a way to feel good about yourself each time G affects you. Reading motivational books helped me a lot. I've been using a meal planner which helped a lot, I downloaded it from nutritionplanner.co.nr

My internal scars have gone down significantly. I can still see the stitches but feel they'll be dropping off soon. As always, drop me a message if you have any questions, I'm here to help.
