Chest binding for Gynecomastia?

I am a 30 y/o male with a mild form of gynecomastia. I was interested in surgery a while back, but eventually decided against it.
I recently read about chest binding, which apparently has long term effects on breast tissue. I know there are some serious health risks involved too and I'm mindful of that too. But mostly I'm wondering - does anyone know what kind of long term effects it has on the breast exactly?
Does it actually reduce breast tissue, or does it just make the breast saggy and elongated? does it distort the nipples?
Has anyone here tried it as at least a partial solution to mild gynecomastia?
