Hi,

I'm 17, I'm 5ft10 and weigh 150lbs. I know this is gynecomastia, but just wondering how bad? I have sensitive lumps under the nipples and have had this for about 1.5 years.
The pictures show what I'm like most of the time, with the last one showing what they're like when it's cold (with nipples erect).

Also, will doing chest exercise (e.g. bench press) in the gym make it worse?
Is the only option surgery, and if so should I wait till I'm 18?

I agree you have gyne , but its not bad at all (i would get surgery if i was in your shoes though).
As for chest Exercise i have read the muscle will push the glands out causing your nipples to protrude more , dont quote me on this though
Good luck  :)

Edit: you should be at a good age for surgery right now

1.) Yes. Working out, and gaining chest muscle will push out the gland further, and make it look worse. I know from my own experience. I'm not saying don't workout though, it's still good for you!

2.) Yes the only option is surgery. It's possible it could disappear on its own because you said they are sensitive. (unlikely though, as you've had it for 1.5 years and it probably already grew glandular tissue)

This obviously bothers you, as you're on this forum. I would recommend informing your parents about it(if you haven't already) and getting a consultation with a plastic surgeon(not a general surgeon).

Any more questions? I'm happy to help.

My surgery was done on Oct 20th, 2014 by Dr. J. Craig Fielding in Toronto, Ontario.

There is no harm in waiting -- but from all appearances and from your description, you do have moderate gyne and you would need surgery to properly deal with it.  You can have the surgery at your age -- no problem.

Recommend you do your research carefully and, with your parents, visit several surgeons, including at least one gyne specialist in your area.

In the meantime, you can improve your appearance by wearing a snug compression shirt.
