Areola discoloration question (pic)

Hello. I'm 15 days post op, and noticed this discoloration today on my nipple. There is a distinct line of lighter/darker areola on the upper third--its more red. Does this look to be a concern? Why would this happen? Thanks in advance.

Absolutely no problem -- very common.  Just apply antibiotic ointment to the incision line.  The color should improve over the next several weeks.

The top looks a bit more vascular than the bottom half of the areola . Small differences in circulation to the areola where a portion has a healing incision interrupting a portion of the blood supply compared to a potion with no incision are routine after surgery.

Thanks Dr. Pensler for your feedback. It's much appreciated. I've also got some hardness developing, inner pec, left side. I'm assuming its scarring of sorts.
