Hi,

Would anyone have any recommendations or suggestions as to where to go for surgery in the North West (UK) ?

I'm 36 and after many years of unhappiness am 100% ready for surgery - I just have no idea where to start...

The whole going abroad thing I'm not sure about...

I don't know if anyone could really answer this one (depends on the place I guess) but after having an appointment, if you go for it, is there a typical "wait" time for Surgery? (I.e - usually a couple of months or is it more like a year??)

Thanks in advance :)

Hey mate, use the UK Forum on here. There you will see all the UK surgeon reviews. Probably the most popular guy is Karidis (1500+ gyno ops) with whom I had surgery and I am delighted with the results! Feel free to check my history to see my journey from consultation to 5 months post op (now) there are countless others.
Also, don't pick a surgeon based on location.. are you prepared to rule out your best chance of getting this right because you're not willing to get on a train for an hour or two? And be very careful about going to Poland (it's cheap but definitely not as good), if you have the money pick a top surgeon. Karidis was £5.5k but well worth it considering it was a once in the lifetime risk to get it right first time.
Quick tips from me:
1. Start doing your research about this op and what it involves, the risks, potential complications, recovery including scar tissue build up. Read as many posts from others who've had the surgery as you can seeing the process from consultation point until many months post op.
2. Short list a few surgeons, who have lots of experience with this type of op and have many positive reviews.
3. See at least 2 or more surgeons for an initial consultations ( will cost £100-200 each consultation), they will give you their assessment of your condition and make sure you bring a notepad with as many questions as you can think of written and ask them all the questions.
4. Have a long hard think about if you really need the surgery and are prepared to take the risk and which surgeon you liked the most.
5. Book surgery, could be anywhere from 2-6 weeks after the consultations depending on when you want to do it.
