Hi, I am new here and have been reading up as much as I can. But still I do not know what step to take next. I know I have gnyecomastia because I went to the doctor last spring and she told me I did and that it will posivitly go away because my chest was so tender. Has anyone heard that and it acuattly happen? Secondly I have had gyne since 8th grade and I am currently in 11th, basically a very little under three years. All these years I have been influenced to do things differently because of my chest. Now its finally getting to me and I don't know what to do anymore. The two main questions lately are, should I wait it out to see if it goes away, or should I research and get surgery? I am truely lost on what to do and any thoughts or ideas would help greatly. Thanks in advance.

Firstly know that you are not alone.   This is a problem much more common than you might realize.  From everything I've read, you should probably wait  a couple of years as there are many hormonal changes at your age.   Do lots of research.  This is a good site, however there are some postings that contradict one another, and the more you do the research the more you can make educated discisions.  Also, I'm not sure what your body type is, but if you are overweight I'd suggest doing cardio and lifting weights.

Good Luck

Hmmm,

I've never heard that gynecomastia can physically hurt someone.  Emotionally yeah of course.  If you are truly in pain, then by all means get to the doctor.  You also might want to make an appt. with an endocronologist, to see if you have a hormonal imbalance.  Do you have any pics?

No but I will get one asap. The doctor just told me everything is fine and i shouldn't worry and if it hurts I should take advil. To explain the hurting, its just the glands hurt they are very sensative. I can remeber back like 2.5 years ago they really really hurt really badly when they first starting appearing. So i was scared either they might be growing bigger but they might be getting smaller. Since last spring to now i have heard a few comments how smaller they have gotten but to me they have been unchanged. Also I am worried that if the gland does go away it will leave behind fat tissue from it i can feel, so if it does go away I dont know if i could notice. But i will try to ge pics right away. Oh ya my doctor told me that my glands will deffintely go away and that i shouldn't worry because she has been a doctor for 25 years and have never heard of the glands not gong away, so I am not sure if she is just pulling my leg. But what should i ask about for the other thing, should i just bring it up with my dad and take to a doctor about that.?

I would definitely speak to your dad, get someone on your side.  The support is invaluable.  Show him this website.  Get another doctors opinion.  Probably an endocronologist.

Your GP has been practicing medecine for 25 years and has never seen an adult man with Gyne glands? Either she's smoke'n some bad crack or she's trying to yank your chain Dude. You should tell your Doc to check out the 'User Photos' forum on this Site. I had Gland at 41 years of age.... :-/

OK, well my mom is really concerned and said I can go to all these other doctors and if its not going to go away I might as well go get surgery. But my dad on the other hand is like, "Don't worry, the doctor said they will go away. your perfectly normal. So it's hard to get through with him, but i'll keep trying and I will get some pics.
