8 months post op - nipple change

Hi

I'm 8 months post op, had both lipo and gland excision.

Results were awesome but over the last 2 weeks I've felt tenderness on both sides and noticed a slight change in my nipples

I've attached a photo, they have slightly 'puffed' up in the centres only having been previously completely flat since surgery.

Is this anything to cause concern? Could it be returning? Is there a reason this is happening?

It could be that you are developing some scar tissue.  Would strongly suggest you return to your surgeon, who knows exactly what was done during your surgery.  If he knows that all or virtually all of the underlying breast tisue was removed, then it is more likely scar tissue, which can be treated with a cortisone injection.  If he deliberately left some breast tissue, then that may be becoming more apparent as the swelling from your surgery diminishes.  Re-growth of breast tissue is extra-ordinarily rare.

I can't feel anything lumpy or solid behind either nipple.

My surgeon has previously told me that he removed nearly all the gland, leaving only a tiny part behind to prevent crater.  Just seems weird that it was completely flat for so long now all of a sudden a change?

Almost feels "flabby" not puffy again.

In cases like this I always recommend checking in with you surgeon. If you cannot feel anything that is encouraging. Sometimes acases like this can be improved with some kenalog injections.

Not sure if this has been cleared up for you, but I've had a few patients present with some late "puffiness" that resolved with treatment using Kenalog (corticosteroid).  Usually, there's some firm tissue in the area, and I inject into that tissue.  As noted--check with your original surgeon, who will know best what he or she did and how to address it now.
