benusa, you are doing fine. There is no shame in wearing a bra full time if it helps you. It has helped me get over my chest. I also understand your hesitation. I went through the same thing. It does fade though. I have been wearing a bra everyday for years now. I wouldn't want to go back being braless like I used to be. For years did and I hated every minute of it. After I started wearing full time, my confidence of my appearance increased and I began to not think about my chest all the time, knowing that I was in control of what my chest looked like and the support I was getting. It was so liberating being in control over a body trait I had no control over before. Take it slow, but keep moving forward.

Here is what I deal with everyday and have since I was a teen. You are not alone.
There is a common thread throughout this forum that once one embraces wearing a bra daily to contain their breasts they feel much more in control and much more confident about their bust line. Unsupported breasts constantly remind us of their presence and the uncontrolled bounce increases our concern of what other people notice. The containment and shaping of a bra goes a very long way to removing these issues and increasing our confidence in public. Once the mental barrier of wearing a bra in public is bypassed, we can live in harmony with our breasts to the point that we often forget we are even wearing a bra.

I could not imagine going back to being braless. It only took wearing a bra once for me to realize that I likely needed to wear one the rest of my life.
If the bra fits, wear it.

Blad,
You said it better than I could.

I realized this the first time I was given my sister's old bras to try. I was young (12) when I started wearing a bra. I didn't start out immediately wearing a bra full time but I think that because I was young, I quickly got used to wearing a bra. So much so, by the time I was 16, I knew that I felt and looked better wearing a bra and was actually relieved when my mother told me that I needed to start wearing a bra full time for the same reasons that my sister and herself did.

I wanted to wear a bra. I just didn't want to seem to eager to do so. By being told to do so, it made it easier for me rather than me having to say that I wanted to. That was also the same day as my first fitting which was when I got my first underwire bras and the last day I wore boys underwear and started wearing panties.

My sister and I were both 34C. After I started wearing a bra daily, it wasn't uncommon for my sister to borrow one of my bras. I remember her being a little upset when she found out that I had gotten underwire bras because mother wouldn't let her wear them because my mother thought that they would make her boobs look bigger and my mother didn’t want my sister showing off any cleavage.

My relationship with my sister ❤️  had changed, we became my closer. She let me borrow her clothes too. She was pretty surprised how good her jeans and tops looked on me. To this day, we still wear the same size bra.

Wearing a bra early on in life made such a difference in my acceptance of not only my breasts and wearing a bra, it also helped me accept who I really am.

Much ❤️ and 🫂 🤗

I do wish my family would have been that supportive. I did really have the need in high school.

I didn't make it into a bra until I reached a D cup. 😐

I wish I had tried a bra when I was younger. I might have not gotten the mastectomy if living with them had been easier.

Trying a bra in my early teens definitely had a big impact on me being more accepting of having grown breasts, but it was a solution I could only have in private in those early years. I was still embarrassed at school and had to be braless most of the time. My mother was well aware of my breast growth, having had me examined by a specialist team at the children's hospital, but she never discussed using a bra. She was a great mom growing up and would likely have helped, but probably she was too embarrassed to bring up the topic as was I. A missed opportunity to have a bit more help at home on my need for better breast support.

Ben, it's such a pity that you had a mastectomy for, how I presume, only to meet the expectations of others to be a perfect boy/man.

A bra is just an article of clothing for people with breasts.

Nothing to pity John. I was extremely distressed over it and that’s an understatement. I’m at a different place in life now.

No worries. It's easy to think we are the only ones dealing with this "anomaly" when the truth is there is no anomaly, it's just the way our bodies work. It's society who has the problem thinking we have a "problem". This site is wonderful that we can all support each other when we feel no one else can or does.

We all need to be reminded at times (me too) that there is nothing wrong with my body, boobs and all, and if I need to support two protruding mounds of flesh off my chest, then why not. Why should I be physically uncomfortable just because my genitals are located outside of my body instead of inside. And in my mind that is where the rubber meets the road. I have a need. There is a garment that will do the job. Why am I being denied it's use? It's my body. It's no one's business but mine.

Update. Just tried Shapermint tank and posted review in topic under Acceptance Garments. Ordered two sports bras in bigger size since current ones tend to cut off circulation. Will probably post review of those when I get them. I feel like going up a size is surrendering in a way to having boobs and not seeking surgery. I feel like a bra has become a need now. So far I think the tank is a good alternative for work.

I plan to wear my “bra” to work everyday for a while. I can wear actual bras at home. For now I guess you can say I’m trying to wear one full time.

That's really great news. You will feel much more comfortable wearing a bra full time.

People are so busy with their own lives that it shouldn't even be noticed, and if it is they most likely will say nothing.

Thanks Birdie,
It’s no different from a tank shirt so I don’t see why anyone would say anything.
