I was quoted 12,000 for chest and lipo on the side of the chest.  Is that reasonable?

Plastic Surgery Prices

» Jump to table with National Average Plastic Surgery Prices.

For years people believed that cosmetic plastic surgery was only for the rich and famous; but that just is not so! There is, however, more to cosmetic plastic surgery pricing than you might think.

The cost of surgery will vary based on your needs and the complexity of your desired procedure. Most procedures actually have four different, variable costs?

Those four costs are the surgeon's fee, operating room cost, anesthesia and if your procedure requires some type of implant there will be device costs. Potential patients that don't take the time to understand these costs risk confusion or frustration going in to their cosmetic plastic surgery procedure.

Surgeon's Fee
The surgeons fee for your cosmetic procedure will vary by the complexity and number of hours required to complete your desired procedure.

Operating Room Cost
Today, many surgeons utilize outpatient surgical centers to perform their procedures. Use of a suite in a surgical center will often cost from $600-$900 per hour. The complexity and duration of your procedure will affect this cost and in many cases your surgeon will ask you to make a payment directly to the surgical center for the use of their facility. Some surgeons do use an operating room in their own facility. In these cases they will very often include the operating room cost in under the umbrella of the Surgeon's Fee.

Anesthesia
A variety of medical professionals are qualified to administer anesthesia, but licensed professionals that administer anesthesia will charge between $200 and $350 per hour. Like operating room costs, your surgeon may ask you to pay for anesthesia separate from your surgeon's fee.

Devices
Breast, cheek and chin implants and injectables (botox, collagen etc.) are often referred to as 'devices'. Device costs will vary by implant size and quality or injectable volume. While device costs are usually included with the surgeon's fee, they can represent a significant part of your overall procedure cost.

The table below lists the National Average Surgeon's Fees for 2003, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. The prices in the table below do NOT the operating room cost, anesthesia and any device costs. Of course every surgeon will quote a different price, and prices will vary slightly by region. You should consult several surgeons in your area for a more accurate price quote (note that most will require you come in for a consultation).
