I think the nurse said either use arnica gel (which has the benefit for when you are bruised) OR vitamin E gel/cream.  I asked her what she recommended and she said the arnica helped her alot when she had bruising, so I went with that.  But, after the arnica dries on my chest (which is quickly) then I rub some Lifebrand Vitamin E gel (in the sunburn aisle) on it as well, for the 5  minutes per side massage.  Then, on the advice of my mom who is a nurse, she said rub some pure vitamin E oil on the scars.  So thats what I've been doing.  Today, I bought some Vitamin E cream at Shoppers - 2 tubs for $11.00, $8 bucks off on sale.  It's good for the massaging now, and also later after you shave etc.

I've been using Arnica gel as well and it seems to be helping - the scar tissues appear to have shrunk. I haven't used Vitamin E yet, but I have read about how helpful it is for scars. It's been two weeks exactly since the op. and the bruising is practically all gone. I purchased a compression vest from my doctor's office (Dr. Fielding). I purchased the one with the zipper in the middle front. Not that impressive - it feels more like a girdle than anything else. At leas the tie covers the bump the zipper makes. It was $50. it is tight, however, and appears to be doing what it's supposed to do. I think I'm going head down to Niagara Falls (NY) to get some cheap compression Ts. I hear that you can get Adidas ones for less than US$10 a piece. I can't wait to get back to the gym. I was told not to engage in any cardio or weight lifting activity for three weeks after the surgery. Any experience with that from anyone? I feel like I've gained some weight.

ya no 'working out' for 6 weeks Lista said.  Walking, or brisk walking is fine, but nothing else.  Cut out as much sugar as you can, drink 3 8-ounce glasses of ruby red grapefruit juice per day - 1 glass with each meal (I've read thats really good to cut weight and still continue to eat normally as you would..actually I read it in Mens health at Lista's office...

I'm 2 weeks post op today, and its getting better for sure - just a bit of bruising on side under arm, but i still have lumps in my bottom chest and around nipple that puff the nips out still, and when i flex, the nipples indent, but the scar tissue around the area still protrudes so it looks like shxt.  raising my arms straight up above my head hurts still...feels like its gonna rip my chest muscles, and it overall still hurts to poke at it, but I can go about just about anything during the day now for sure.

hey, i've developed a rash on my f'ing chest, kinda like ingrown hairs and they bloody hurt.  i still have swelling, and some sore spots along the side of chest muscles.  my holes are almost sealed up and going away sort of too, i continue to put vit E oil on them 3 times  a day, and i just bought my 3rd tube of arnica, though i'm not using it for a few days while this rash i treat with some cortisone cream.

my left breast still indents some when i flex, but it looks better i guess.  i go to lista soon too, so we'll see re photos, but i never got any on my 2nd post op.

your sock thing i did too actually...but i've found the vest that was originally too tight actually fits better now than the new one, as its more snug, since i've lost some of the swelling now.  but for a while those clasps were digging into my sternum...leaving a clasp dent for gods sake.
