I had my surgery yesterday (Wednesday) in the morning. Everything went great and now I am home. I don't feel almost any pain. I've heard that the first week after the surgery is critical to how my chest looks. My doctor wants me to keep the vest on until Monday, when I am supposed to go for a check-up. What should I do over the next several days? Is it better to sit, walk, or stay in bed? Is there anything else that I should be doing right after surgery?

  • Gyne free, is the way to be!
You want to take it easy. By this they mean don't run, exercise, lift heavy things.

Yes, you want to walk around. It will help prevent blood clots. The majority of the time you need to be sleeping, and or watching tv.
You want to keep as much compression on your chest as you can stand.  Sleep on an incline. Its very uncomfortable but it will help with swelling drastically.

Congrats on your surgery...

Agree with Vaio. That about sums it up! Just take it easy. No strenuous activity and try not to raise your arms above your head.

Just chill and relax...
