Finally some scar tissue has softened

Just wondering mate... How can the ps be accurate in ensuring that the shots selectively target scar tissue only and not other essential tissues (like skin,muscle,etc) ??]

its easy and i do it the same way when i inject steroid injections for my patients although i can see the scar tissue.the ps has to pinch the internal scar tissue below the skin and inject this way.his is the only way possible.if he is in scar tissue it will be very hard for him to inject needle into the scar tissue and to inject the fluid out from needle.the difficulty depending on how hard your scar tissue is however.

Two months after surgery my nipples are still "poofy". It feels like there's fluid inside them, but I honestly don't know. Is this common? Does the poofiness go down as the scar tissue heals?

If your PS did in fact remove all of the gland, then it is residual swelling, or surgery induced lymphedema, it's normal and should progressively go away...IF your PS did a good job...massaging can't hurt, and many swear by it.

update:
         In the last two weeks my nips seem to be puffier than when I made this post   The scar tissue itself isnt as hard as it was after surgery, but the aerolas havent tightened or flattened  :-/  I guess I'll keep massaging for the next few weeks and if nothing gets better Im going to push for cortisone injections possibly. With moving to SC in august I MUST be able to go shirtless     That is my goal atleast.

WOW 5 months?! Thats a slight sign of hope. What kind of changes did you have?

i hope all of you arent confusing scar tissue with swelling. Many of the hard lumps you feel are actually bruising, or small hematomas. They will go away on their own. Compression and massage will help. i think everyone on this forum is confusing scar tissue with swelling.

For example, when i got a black eye about 3 months ago, even after all the visible swelling had gone down, I felt a small lump where it had once been swollen for about 2 months after the initial black eye. Give time for your body to heal itself. With surgery of this scale, especially with the amount of trauma that goes to your chest, dont expect results right away. You've heard this probably before, but best results will come about 6 months after surgery. If the swelling has not gone down by then, then it may possibly be scar tissue or left over gland.

When you have a rock hard lump running at a curve exactly along the incision line, and going into where the gland or fatty tissue was removed, and it develops anywhere from 2 days to 2 months post - op (typically 6 weeks post op seems to be the worst time) Well, you know it isn't swelling.

Especially when you sit down with your PS and he confirms it's scar tissue.

Unfortunately for some reason gyne surgery leaves a very high risk of scar tissue formation. My first gyne op was 2 years ago, and I had scar tissue form that never went away, which is why after my recent second surgery when scar tissue formed I jumped straight into accepting the cortisone shots when offered.

sorry but i have to disagree with you here i had the most changes the last few months ir from 5-8 months.NOT 6 weeks post op,

the main changes are of scar tissue disappearing from a huge size of 4 inches length etc to now around a half inch but main difference is that its much flatter and softer so less noticeable.

im about ready to give up...it feels as if the scar tissue is softer, but there is like air/fluid? inbetween the tissue and the nipple causing them to still be puffy   :-/ One month till school is back in session...one month of hope left in me at this point

Im in the same boat as you. Had excision. Cant feel no gland under th nip yet there still puffy. Just keep your fingers crossed.

ya i know its scar tissue this time bc i looked perfect with no hard tissue for the first week or so post op. After my first surgery ( lipo only) i had hard tissue immediatly after surgery (it was gland)

Unlike you, I can feel scar tissue though. But the skin hasnt tightened yet either.
