hello,

i'm 3 days post op. had true gyno. gland removed.

not much swelling or pain, however i do feel fluid build-up.

no drains were used. is this normal or should i be concerned.

Don't know. Maybe your case wasn't severe enough for your PS to feel the need to use drains. The drains topic is a lot like the compression vest topic in that some PS's think their patient is a good candidate for there use and others say no. To answer your question, after 3 days post-op, i'd say no, at this point you shouldn't be too worried about it.  Ask your dr on your next follow up appt.

My ps didn't use drains either. Just wear a very very tight compression vest. If it is not tight enough use an ace bandage also.

If there is a lot of fluid buildup, the doctor can extract it with a syringe. It happens all the time.
