Lemmy, I had local for my surgery 1 year ago.  Everyone has a different feeling about anesthesia...it does't mean that gyno surgery is not important to you.  I just was not going to take a chance on general because there are risks involved. Imagine leaving a family and children behind for elective surgery? I went to a contributing doctor on this board and had local only.  The tumescent lypo totally numbs the area so you don't feel pain at all.  Additionally, I was given sedation so I slept through the whole thing. I don't understand why someone would take the risk of general when you don't need to.

And who wants to sleep when you can be awake the whole time? :)

1 recovery time is faster
2 is cheaper
3 after surgery you can stand up and run clean out of there
