Thats a great post headheldhigh. Theres a fictional but fact based book you might like that I really enjoyed reading called My Year of Meat by Ruth Ozeki, a Japanese-American author, about a tv journalist who spends a year making a programme about American traditional meat cooking that leads her to find out all these things about the meat industry like you mentioned.

Actually when I was in Japan they got almost all their beef from America and there was one case of mad cow disease somewhere in the States and they immediately banned it all and seemed to be trying quite hard to never unban it. They were probably looking for an excuse without incurring sanctions like the EU.
