Lipo question for Dr. Bermant or anyone

I just had tumescent liposuction done 2 weeks ago on both breasts.  

The areas where the lipo was done are hard and firm, and is a bit swelled still.  Basically this hard tissue is the swelling.

Is it normal for the areas where lipo was performed to become hard?  Why is it hard, and what is the tissue?  What happens to the hard tissue, and how long until it goes away?

there's scar tissue from every needle that enters your body.  and lipo is just really a bid needle.

however, the fatty tissue that you had that was sucked out should not form conventional scar tissue as it should still be semi solid rather than musclular in nature.

i would leave it to heal and then massage the area to break up any compacted scarred fatty tissue. heat (as in a hot towel - not boiling water!) may also help but leave it to heal first!!!

It is absolutely normal for the area of liposuction to become firm after the operation.  Usually it begins in a few weeks, but that is quite variable.  The firmness usually lasts several weeks (although I have seen it last several months) and then it gradually softens until ultimately everything is soft and has normal feeling.

There really isn't much you can do to hasten this process, but try gentle massage (use skin cream) and perhaps some warm compresses.

Be patient--the healing does take time!!!

You better believe it. when ever you get cut open, it's possible to develop scar tissue.  Sometimes not so bad, other times real bad.
