When would you advise a person can start lifting weights after Gyno surgery?

Is there a shorter time of recovery for procedures by certain surgeons?

Thanks

These questions have been answered many times, use the search box and type weight lifting and or recovery time.  Both doctors have answered this question.

For average cases in whom normal healing occurs, I usually recommend return to the gym beginning at three weeks post op and full workouts, including cardio and lifting, by four weeks.

Every doctor has a different regime -- and every case is different.  I would make sure you clear it with your surgeon before you begin lifting after surgery.

In bodybuilding, no pain no gain.  In healing, ignore the pain and you can hurt the healing.  Swelling is one sign of injury.  For my patients, peak swelling after gynecomastia surgery occurs at the time of my sculpture.  Pushing healing tissues too far too soon can be an issue.  This surgery has similarities to a sprain as far as return to activities.  Time until return to activity depends on the original problem, what was done, skill of the surgeon, and many other factors.

Hope this helps,

Michael Bermant, MD

U didnt answer his question Dr bermant...

1) He did answer the question:
"time until return to activity depends on the original problem, what was done, skill of the surgeon, and many other factors"

2) As someone else mentioned, this question has been discussed ad nauseum on these boards

ALL Depends?  You cannot determine whether how many weeks or rather months the patient cud actually go back to gym. what do u tell your patients then?
