draining blood

I'm about three weeks post op, I had a mild case of gyno and had a tightly wrapped bandage and drain tubes for a week. Then I got them taken out. Every few days I go to the surgeon to get blood taken out with a needle which she puts in through the lower areola and just drains out. Doesn't hurt at all. Is this normal? The blood seems to make my nipples puffy again but after she drains the blood, it's flat again. Anyone know? Thanks
