Dear All,

10 days ago I had my 3rd Gynecomastia surgery.  My surgery history is lipo only, then gland excision only then just recently gland excision combined with lipo.  I had the surgery done under local and was conversing with the Surgeon throughout.  When he had me open he was a little surprised I had so much gland around my chest.  He said alot of the gland is attached to the muscle with scar tissue.  He was pulling and cutting and even showed me one long piece of gland he pulled out.  He said he has taken so much out his worry now is not that the chest wont be flat enough, but that it will dip in.  He said he is using fat to support the nipple.  When I got a glance as they were putting the bandages on at the operating table I was pretty happy with what I saw.  The following morning when they took the drains out I was again happy with what I saw.  Since returning home though I'm growing increasingly unhappy with what I am seeing.  There was more gland on my left side, not properly removed from a prior surgery which gives that side more of a point and a slighly more swelled look.  Lookin at my result now, the left side is still larger and more founded than the right on the upper and side of my chest.  I have a very small crease in the left nipple...I hope it improves, but I could live with it if it doesn't.  What I am concerned with is the left side not sinking down like the right.

I was under the impression that gland only grows under the nipples?  But during my consultation the Doc was pinching lumps in my upper chest saying this is hard gland.  I can still feel more hard lumps on my upper left side than my right.  I'm frightened that not enough of this upper gland was taken out and I am destined for an uneven chest.  The left side is a little more sore so I'm hoping this is making it swell more.

Any help on recovery is much appreciated.

Can't comment on the surgery but at 10 days, you are just at the beginning of your healing phase.  it is not unusual for there to be differences between the two sides, particularly since this is revision surgery and perhaps different surgical approaches were needed for either side.

Best advice:  chill and wait it out.

Thank you Doctor.  I am trying to tell myself that and the fact the left side is more tender and sore than the right gives me some hope there will be an improvement.

I believe you are based in New York?  Should 6 months down the line I not be happy with the result then I would like to fly out and have a revision done by you.  I should have gone to a Doctor who specialises in this surgery from the start, it is a false economy getting discount surgery in Poland.
