A surgical site can be damaged with trauma during healing. Most have had cuts in their lives. Bang a healing cut and it can reopen. New swelling after surgery can mean new damage. Break open sutures or disrupt repair can result in a worse scar or deformity. Whether something has been damaged enough to be permanent is best discussed with your doctor or someone who can evaluate the situation.
