I have a snowboarding trip booked three weeks after my operation and am not sure if that will be enough time, the trip is overseas so I can't change the dates. When can you generally resume exercise after these operations?

Your time frame is a bit tight, IMHO.  This is REAL surgery!  Don't think severe exercise is a good idea so soon after surgery.  But I am a bit conservative -- recommend you consult with your surgeon about this.

Dr. Jacobs, after going through all the surgeries that l have had, I believe you are doing the right thing being concervative! There is no reason to rush a recovery, just to do something  unnecessary that could cause harm to that recovery!

I'm over 2 months post op and I wouldn't recommend it. I guess it depends on the extent of what's done, but still.  I was fine moving about with limited range of motion and had to remind myself to not do any type of real arm movement or put strain on my chest, because it would hurt some. There's a chance you'll fall, which could put a lot of stress on your wound if you use your arms or just from the impact itself. Think it's more on how you feel and how much you're willing to limit yourself to provide optimal healing/results, though
My story and being post-op 12 months now (w/pics)
