Title: My Horrible Condition
Post by: MRGR on September 17, 2007, 10:06:18 PM
These are 2 of the 5 pictures that I sent to Dr.Delgado's office in San Francisco. (Now that I think of it, thats prob why it cost $7,200. San Francisco is one of the most expansive places to live here in California.) in regards to my condition. I had placed them in a RAR archive, but they did not seem to know how to extract them to view the pictures themselves. As you can see from the pics listed below, I believe that I have a rather bad case of gynecomastia. After looking at some of the pics other members here have submitted (PRE-Surgery), I would give almost anything to look like that. Upon self examination, only approx 40% appears to be soft fat. The other 60% is hard tissue behind both nipples. Close to my closed fist in size. So you can see why I was so bummed to hear that my options were few & far between. Even now, it still has not sunk in that I am without options other than winning the lottery.

I have asked my wife in a really round about way, for details on what health coverage I have, since I am covered under her plan. She is covered under the plan the Hospital carries for all of it's employee's. I don't want my wife to know what i'm looking into though until I know if I can get it covered or not. Though I think she knows something is up, as I have been more than a little on edge for the past few days. As you view the pics, please excuse the evidence that my wife is an excellent cook. Even pre-wifes cooking, when I was thinner, my chest was that big, which made the condition stand out even more. I try to convince myself that the bigger I am, the less it'll stand out, since it's well known large men tend to get excess fat there & it's a little more normal then. It's not working.

As I find out more, I will post it here.

It would probably not be cover since it is cosmetic in nature, your health is not at risk according to the insurance companies (what a scam). Surgery is the only answer to your condition. I wish you good luck. I lived with it for a long time too.

Or the best $800 you'll ever spend. Depends where you do it.

Bro, you need to lose some weight first. After the weight is gone, then look into surgery. Looks like mostly fat.

@ gyneman:

That's crap, losing weight will not get rid of those and a good surgeon should be able to get rid of most of it anyway.

Also (me, personally) I find it hard getting motivated to lose weight as I know I'm embarassed of it and it'd look weird losing going to a gym in a jumper, and I know I'm afraid to wear a t-shirt..

My gyne is atleast as bad as MRGR's, if I do get the surgery I can all but guarantee I would be much more willing to start losing weight.

Absolutelty not. Weightloss will make a minimal reduction to his case.

In my opinion, when you get the surgery the scarring will be terrible because alot of skin will need to be removed. That's where I was headed, avoiding major scarring which will occur.  :P

No one here can make that assumption. Even if we were medically qualified specialists you'd still need to examine the guy to make an assumption about skin elasticity and scarring based on age and physical condition. What we can see from his pics is that weight loss clearly wont help reduce the breast mass so its a moot point anyway.

I agree, diet and exersize will really help...

BTW- If he shaves his chest he may get many dates.

i dont think being overweight is the main issue here, i think you need to talk to your wife about it.
