Hi guys,
Just checking if I need to be concerned about this. I had surgery 5 days ago and my nipple has turned very dark purple (not quite black).
Any advice much appreciated! Not scared enough to start ringing my doc, should I be?
This is just on my right nipple btw and apologies for the grossness of such an up-close shot ;)

The purple is a bit of a bruise (which is actually free blood). Sometimes blood gets into the ducts which lead to the nipple -- which leads to a purple nipple.
Fear not -- nothing to worry about -- it will disappear and it is harmless.

Thanks for the reassurance and taking the time to reply, Dr Jacobs! :)

The same thing happened to me, Rasputin.
My left nipple was really bruised up and it's still darker than the right one, but it's slowly coming back to normal color.

even though i didnt have the incisions on my nipples, both of em actually scabbed up a little bit and kind of peeled off. They were really dark and one day they skin just kind of peeled off to reveal a normal colored nipple haha. really weird but i think its pretty common

Cheers guys, I had seen some similar stories but there weren't a lot of pictures so couldn't say if what I had was the same!
Topguy, how long postop are you?
