Doctors,
I have a query with regard to breast tissue. Does breast tissues presence encourage or support fat being deposited in the chest area. Does removal of breast tissue slow down fat deposit in the chest area post surgery.
I have a strong tendency to put on fat on the chest for every pound I gain. Will removal of tissue help anyway in fat not getting deposited in the chest area.
Also it is suggested to lose weight for the surgery. How does this help the surgeon. Mine is very severe case .

There are two issues: fat in the breast and glandular tissue in the breast. You are born with a specific number of fat cells which do not divide as you gain or loose weight,rather the existing cells get larger. If one has liposuction in an area fat cells are removed .While the patient can gain weight if they eat like a horse there are no new cells only the existing cells which are left after surgery which may enlarge.If the weight is stable after surgery the fat cells are stable.Glandular tissue is not altered by weight loss.In fact with weight loss glandular tissue may become more apparent.

Fat in the chest of patients with gynecomastia is often the type of fat, which is resistant to weight loss. When weight is gained, it frequently increases in the chest out of proportion to other parts of the body. When weight is lost, it decreases slower than other parts of the body. When liposuction is performed as part of the procedure to correct gynecomastia, these "resistant" fat cells are removed, reducing their number, so that when weight is gained, it is more properly in proportion to other body parts.
Weight loss is helpful to get the best result, since if you're at or near your ideal weight, your end result will be better and more long-lasting.

Fat deposition in the breast is independent of the present of breast tissue.
Does removal of breast tissue slow down fat deposit in the chest area post surgery.
Usually, gyne surgery involves removal of fat and breast tissue -- one can never remove just breast tissue alone. If combined breast and fat tissue is removed during surgery, then subsequent weight gain will not preferentially deposit fat on the chest.
