Hello Everyone,
I am 6 months post op now after having gyno surgery in Scotland. It was a huge relief to have it done and although I have noticed an improvement I still have an issue.
One of my biggest concerns other than the overall size of my chest was the size of my areola's. It was a nightmare wearing t-shirts, having to be clothed all year round, constantly walking with a slouch etc.
Following the surgery, and now 6 months later I have to say my areola's haven't shrunk to what I thought they would. They are different in appearance, the right seems to be more protruding with the left sagging more. From people who have been through the procedure and who may have had a similar issue, is this likely to improve at all over the next 6 months? I have read it can take up to a year but I cant see it improving. I'm not even sure further surgery would help, is there a procedure for the areola reduction itself. I went on holiday abroad last week and for the first time took my top off but felt very conscious. This was reaffirmed when a small kid asked me what was wrong with my 'boobies' :(
Any advice appreciated. I will also add photo's if someone can help, it just gives me a url link but my pics are on my computer?

thank you

I've managed to get some photo's up so hopefully you can view the links. I'm pretty disappointed overall, the right side is still larger than the left and the areola itself is still protruding and large. The left side of my chest is smaller but the areola is sunken and still large. The final pic is my before pic.

disclaimer:  I'm not a doctor.

In my opinion your areola are OK - they are slightly larger than the  average male model but they aren't huge.   The only way to make them smaller is basically cutting all the way around them to remove skin - this can leave horrible scarring and is best avoided.

The main issue looks like you have still got some fat on the chest and in the under-arm  or 'side boob' area.

There is a big improvement over the pre-op picture though.

From my personal experience I would of thought your recovery would be more advanced than what it is.
Did you wear the compression garment for a long enough period?
Was this done privately or NHS ? as I would recommend going back and seeing then Surgeon.
My nipple were a big problem to me prior to my op but as from the next day post op they have been what I would consider to be "normal"

Hi 8oo8less
It was through the nhs.
I got a macom compression garment and wore it for 6 weeks after. I really think she just hasn't taken enough out, devastated to say the least.
I've got some feedback from the drs on here and they agree with my concerns. I contacted dr vijh and he will see me in 10 months time once the tissue has soffened. In the meantime im back to square one, low self of steam,  no holidays and old t shirts looked out
